Why Did I Start a $5.00 Challenge? I'm currently on Social Security Disability and receive just $963 per month. I've put my name on low-income apartment waiting lists here and in a few other states. So now I'm trying to save as much as I can so that when they call me with a place, I'll have the money ready. However, it's challenging to save much on such a limited income.
